Tending the Grassroots: For the People Annual Fundraiser

We invite you to join our annual Tending The Grassroots fundraiser on Saturday, November 22nd from 5:00 - 8:00 PM at Freeland Hall! You’ll hear the accomplishments and hardships Kicking Gas, and the other programs you’re helping sustain through For The People, have faced through these trying times.

Guest speakers will discuss how we’ve organized to make meaningful change within our community. You'll have the opportunity to learn, connect with like-minded neighbors, and enjoy a fun evening filled with great food and entertainment!

Tickets for the event are on a sliding scale, available on the For The People website. Please choose tickets at a level that is comfortable for you. Bring a friend! The more people who hear about this work, the stronger we become. You may purchase additional tickets at any level for your guests. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. Contact info@forthepeople.earth if you have questions.

This year, our communities took bold steps toward a just, livable future. Through For The People’s fiscal sponsorship, the Kicking Gas Campaign helped hundreds of Washingtonians replace polluting gas systems with safe, affordable electric options and showed what’s possible when we follow the leadership of youth and organize for collective care.

Our work is far from finished. The federal government shutdown has delayed, and put at risk, funding for several of our programs, creating uncertainty in our timeline. We’re grateful for strong Washington State leadership, which helps us continue this work as we remain committed to serving our communities throughout this disruption.

In addition, the climate crisis, social inequities, and extractive energy systems continue to harm us. We know that the solutions we need already exist. We see them in the hands of our young leaders, in our elders’ wisdom, and in the power of communities coming together to defend what we hold dear: justice, life, love, and community.

We’re asking you to help us raise $50,000 by December 31st to sustain and expand this work. Your gift keeps grassroots climate justice efforts like Kicking Gas thriving by paying staff who are on the front lines of the Just Transition, and giving other community-led projects under For The People, like United Student Leaders and rePurpose Whidbey, the stable platform they need to grow.

When you donate, you’re not only funding heat pumps: You’re investing in a vision of a regenerative economy where technology replenishes Mother Earth; where every person is valued equitably and communities make decisions rooted in care.
