A Rare Opportunity!
It’s been an amazing year of Kicking Gas!!! As we’ve been saying, we wouldn’t be here without all of you: clients, installers, supporters, volunteers and more. We’re so proud of the work we’re able to do, and really grateful to do it alongside such wonderful people. We’ve got a couple announcements to share as we wind down for wintering. Give yourself the gift of fresh pasta!
We’re pleased to bring you our grand-finale fundraising item: A never-before-given opportunity to have a private pasta making class at your home with Aurora Echo, founding Artisan and Owner of Wildly Beloved Foods! Aurora will come to your home for a dinner gathering within the Island County, WA area, for up to 12 guests, to make pasta with and for your shared party. The winning bidder will host at their home and provide the meal and accompaniments, with the exception of the pasta made fresh together.
All pasta making tools and ingredients will be provided by Aurora, and you can look forward to dinner and a show, where you will learn of her dynamic trajectory. What began with a craving has now evolved into a growing organic food brand, forged from a grassroots grocery story into disruptive consumer packaged goods at the highest level.
This rare and special experience is incomparable, and therefore difficult to assign a value for, so we’re starting the bidding at $600.
Speaking of our fundraiser, we’re so close to reaching our stretch goal of $60,000! Currently, our fundraising total is around $53,000. We’re inviting you to support us in getting all the way to our goal by December 31st. Every contribution counts, and all contributions are tax deductible through our 501(c)3 fiscal sponsor, For The People.
As we are very close to reaching our goal, we are also announcing that we will indeed be closed from December 20th to January 4th to support team rest and rejuvenation over the darkest days and longest nights of the year. (Shout out to the winter solstice!) We’re excited to prioritize team rest, which is such an important part of team sustainability! During this time, we ask that you please be patient with us as our email inboxes will be very intermittently managed.
Be safe and prepared in this unprecedented weather!
We want to take a moment to acknowledge the impact of the flooding in our area. There’s been notification that Oak Harbor’s water supply may be impacted due to the Skagit River, which is forecast to reach record flood levels this week. Flooding could impact the water treatment facility, so please begin conserving water now to help protect our community’s water stores. If you’re a Kicking Gas client, you may have received a complimentary power outage kit. This is a great time to utilize those water bricks! For more information on obtaining a power outage kit for future emergencies, please email sage@kickgasnow.org. If you’re a livestock farmer and need a safe place to temporarily house your animals, Bell’s Farm in Coupeville has graciously offered to be a haven! Contact them at 360-929-6867, if you’re in need.
We wish you a safe and happy holiday. See you next year!! ;)
