Energize Langley: Resilient Microgrids Workshop

On March 18th (6:00pm - 7:30pm), Energize Langley is holding the final community workshop to share results of the Feasibility Studies! This project is led by local environmental leaders from Kicking Gas and Site Story. Engineering expertise is being provided by Cascadia Renewals and Maul Foster & Alongi. Together, our team is working with the City of Langley to evaluate critical services powered by on-site solar and battery storage during power outages, such as:

  • Access to clean water and wastewater systems

  • Communications and internet connectivity

  • Safe, powered spaces to gather, charge devices, and stay warm or cool

Join us for this meeting to celebrate the milestones we’ve made to build resilience and reliability for Langley! Hear from the City and our technical consultants about priority site solar panel and battery storage potential and the next steps of our program.

You can join the meeting online or in-person!

Register HERE to attend online.

A Little “Gnome” Fact:

Did you know that gas stoves and gas appliances release CO and NOx directly in the home and worsen air quality? Children living in homes with gas stoves are at increased risk for asthma, respiratory infections, and reduced lung development. Even with proper ventilation, particulates get on furniture and other household surfaces, as well as food and clothing.

We’re shedding light on this little known (or little “gnome”!) fact to make sure our communities are aware of the health hazards of burning gas inside the home. And our campaign is making it possible to not only kick gas out of your home, but to start cleaning up your home’s air through our heat pump program. Heat pumps filter air while heating and cooling your home, so it’s a win-win situation! Learn more about improving your indoor air quality by visiting our Kicking Gas Education page HERE.

Have a great rest of your week and happy International Women’s Month!
